Community-Based Living and Support

Community-Based Living and Support at VitalSteps Support Services Inc. is designed to foster stability, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging for infants, children, youth, and families across Alberta. We support individuals facing challenging family circumstances by offering safe, nurturing, and inclusive community environments where growth, healing, and meaningful connections can take place.

Our goal is to empower children and families through culturally responsive care, skill-building, and supportive relationships that strengthen daily living, promote independence, and encourage positive community participation.

What This Service Includes

1. Supports for Individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

Our focus is on structured routines, behavioural guidance, emotional regulation assistance, and individualized skill development. We collaborate closely with families, healthcare teams, and specialized service providers to ensure holistic, long-term well-being.

2. Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) Child and Family Support

VitalSteps provides culturally respectful services rooted in Indigenous values, traditions, and teachings. We collaborate with Indigenous leaders, Elders, families, and community organizations to ensure that children feel supported, connected to their identity, and empowered.

3. Outreach Services

Our outreach team supports children, youth, and families directly within their homes and communities. We assist with life-skills training, crisis stabilization, emotional support, mentoring, school engagement, transportation to important appointments, and connecting families to essential community resources. The goal is to reduce isolation, build resilience, and enhance overall functioning.
