Group and Campus-based Care and Support

Group and Campus-Based Care and Support at VitalSteps Support Services Inc. provides structured, therapeutic, and family-focused care environments for children and youth who require enhanced support outside their homes. These programs are designed to stabilize immediate needs, promote emotional and behavioural growth, and work toward long-term goals such as family reunification, family preservation, and permanency.

Our approach prioritizes safety, healing, cultural respect, and skill development enabling children and youth to thrive in supportive group settings while maintaining strong connections to their families and communities.

What This Service Includes

1. Campus-Based Therapeutic Group Care

This service offers 24-hour, on-site therapeutic programming within a structured campus environment. Children and youth benefit from clinical support, life-skills development, behavioural interventions, and consistent daily routines delivered by trained professionals. Our focus is on creating a safe, predictable, and healing space that supports long-term stability and growth.

2. Community-Based Therapeutic Group Care

We provide therapeutic group care within smaller, community-integrated settings to help children remain connected to schools, neighbourhoods, and cultural supports. Youth receive individualized treatment plans, counselling, crisis stabilization, and mentorship while living in a supportive, home-like environment. This model encourages independence, emotional resilience, and strong community involvement.

3. Community-Based Group Care

This service supports children and youth who may not require intensive therapy but still need structured, supervised group living. Our staff provide daily care, recreational activities, life-skills teaching, homework help, and positive behaviour management. The goal is to foster social development, responsibility, and readiness for family reunification or independent living.

4. Secure Services

Provided under the authority of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act and the Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act (PSECA). Secure services provide a short-term, protective environment for children and youth at high risk of harm or exploitation. Within a safe, locked facility, they receive medical assessments, trauma-informed counselling, stabilization services, and individualized planning to prepare them for safe reintegration into the community or family environment.

5. Specialized Out-of-Home Placements and Supports

For children with complex behavioural, developmental, or emotional needs, we provide specialized out-of-home placements staffed by trained caregivers. Supports may include one-on-one supervision, clinical services, skill-building programs, cultural supports, and transition planning. Our team works closely with families, social workers, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and long-term safety.
